As part of the Australian Museum’s renewed focus on climate change, a new exhibit titled "Changing Climate" was installed within the permanent exhibition Surviving Australia. The purpose of this branding project was to develop a cohesive and impactful branding strategy that effectively communicated the key themes of the Changing Climate exhibit.

Project Background:

A comprehensive brand background study was meticulously conducted to precisely position the brand and pinpoint its target audience. This in-depth analysis explored the needs, preferences, and behavioral patterns of the target demographic, ensuring that the brand messaging would resonate deeply and engage effectively. By grounding all subsequent branding efforts in a thorough understanding of the market, this strategic step paved the way for more impactful communication and meaningful engagement.

Following an extensive market analysis and brand research, a comprehensive suite of deliverables was meticulously crafted to embody the brand's essence and effectively engage its audience. These deliverables include:

A detailed logo usage guide has been developed to ensure consistent and accurate application of the logo across various platforms and materials. This guide provides comprehensive instructions and best practices, empowering the brand to effectively and correctly utilize the logo in their own contexts.

Brand Logo:

The brand colors are thoughtfully chosen to symbolize environmental themes and are designed to match the existing exhibition areas within the Australian Museum.

Color Palette:

As part of the comprehensive branding, a series of meticulously designed illustrations and graphical elements have been incorporated. These visual components are crafted to enhance the storytelling of the exhibition, providing visitors with an engaging and immersive experience.

The illustrations feature a blend of abstract and realistic styles, capturing the dynamic and multifaceted nature of climate change. Each element is thoughtfully designed to convey complex concepts in an accessible and visually appealing manner, aiding in the communication of key messages and themes.

Two distinct typefaces were chosen to create a balanced and engaging visual identity. The primary typeface offers modernity and clarity, ensuring readability across various materials. The secondary typeface adds an element of sophistication and warmth, providing an aesthetically pleasing contrast and highlighting key information.

Typography:

Branding applications included a variety of promotional items such as flyers, posters, and invitations. To support environmental sustainability, all branding materials were designed for both digital and print formats. These materials were crafted with a focus on brand consistency, clarity, and visual appeal to effectively communicate the exhibition's message and engage the target audience.

Promotional Materials:

For the branding, a signage and wayfinding system plays a crucial role in enhancing the visitor journey. These elements combine functionality with aesthetics, providing clear guidance while seamlessly integrating with the exhibit's overall branding. By incorporating intuitive directions and informative signage, the design ensures that visitors navigate the exhibit effortlessly and engage deeply with the content.
